Busy productive day

Got a lot done today, at least it felt like it. Still, the list of things to do never ends, and I have to be up early for church tomorrow.

Weeded and cleaned back yard
Fed kids breakfast
Picked up EVDO from Ryan Ozawa (my hero)
evaluated EVDO tech for New Hope Mililani
mowed lawn trimmed trees, ran blower
Got kids doing homework (no small task)
fed kids lunch
Eye doc appointment
shopped Costco
filled car with gas
cleaned and moved new shelf into house
setup at church for tomorrow

Uploaded photos of WV vacation (still loading)
Played with Twitter all day

What a weekend. I can't wait for Monday. I have to go to work, but it will still feel like a holiday I think!

Hi friends,

Just got home from a small Wananada Wednesday (Bible Study) night at my buddy's house. I'm a bit tired and it was good to just talk with my friend Gary for a while. It made me really appreciative of all my friends and I just wanted to let you know, in my impersonal but oh-so-Rich way, that my friendships with you mean a lot to me. For all of you who call me friend, forgive me for taking our relationship for granted. Ha! Sounds like I've been drinking or something!

Sunday's Weather

We received a total of 3.16 inches of rain in 24 hours. Now the skys are clear but the weather reporters say more is coming.

Flash...BANG!

Thunderstorm rolling in now. Loudest I've heard in a long while! Makes me thing a lot about my antennas. Power just flickered too.

Halloween

This year Bradley went as a hunter and Bryan went as a "cereal killer"! (Ha!) It was a wet night and it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to get home so I missed most of the trick-or-treating (but I got to do a little with the boys).

My Mom's Blog is Back

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give my Mom a little unsolicited advertising by announcing she has begun blogging again! It's always more fun to write when there are readers, so I encourage you to check out her blog.

Ironic....

Isn't that ironic? I post about how to kick start the writing habit and then you don't hear from me for a week! SHEESH!

It was a busy week. At KITV we have ramped up again and are hard at work creating the spots we will run during "sweeps" (TV Ratings period).

We had a nice Wananada Wednesdays meeting this week which included 4 new people! Great! When you include the kids it was 28 people from 5 churches! Cool. If we ever have a week where EVERYBODY comes, we will be pretty large! We're not meeting next Wednesday because it is Halloween.

Thursday was the EARC (Emergency Amateur Radio Club) meeting. It was weird. It was supposed to be the election of our club officers, but despite having people willing to be on the board, no one wanted to volunteer to be an officer. Because I am putting so much time and effort into launching the video ministry at NHM I did not step up either. Maybe next year, but not now. It is kinda spooky too that none of the current officers want to do it again.

Yesterday was a work day around the house. Got some things done and that always feels good, but of course not everything that needs done, got done. I still want to make rootbeer this weekend, so it will be ready for thanksgiving. We will be having thanksgiving at our house again this year. That also means another deep fried turkey! YUM. I'm actually considering not doing a rocket launch this year. My rockets are in disrepair and it wouldn't take much to just say...nah. 'Nuf already. Still, it WOULD BE BREAKING A 27 YEAR TRADITION FOR ME. Just thinking about it that way makes it hard.

Well we have church in a few hours. I did the video set up last night so it SHOULD be a pretty relaxing setup this morning. (Watch live or archived)

Wow, what a weekend! I feel like we have been very busy this weekend, yet I feel like nothing got done. We spent much of our Saturday celebrating Vance and Kris's wedding. We went to both the ceremony and the reception, with a nice "date" in between. We stayed up much too late, and I missed my alarm for church, so I was late to church on Sunday. Fortunately Boise and Hazel were there to start set up. What a blessing! I was not expecting them.

I've updated a few items on the blog tonight. Per Gary's suggestion, I moved the weather icon to the upper right. You can now see, at a glance, what the Mililani weather is. If you want more info, you can click on it and see all the history graphs.

I've added a bunch of new blogs to check out. You may want to bookmark the RSS feeds of some of these (RSS, I LOVE IT!)(Fuel Depot RSS Feed). I also got tired of fussing with the order, so they are alphabetized now. Here are the new ones:

She's a 108 year old blogger who lives in Australia I think. She dictates her blog ("blobs" she calls them) to a friend who writes them down for her. Very cute.

Bryanz Scienz Blog
Bryan has started a new blog to fulfill the journaling requirement for his Science Fair project. This year he is building a GPS tracking device, utilizing the APRS system, thereby showcasing his ham radio license again. Weather Station (My New Toy)

For my birthday, I got a electronic weather monitoring station, will all these cool sensors and buttons.

I love it! I hooked it all up right away and downloaded some cool software (Weather Display) and now my weather station data is being uploaded to the "Weather Underground" and the ham radio APRS system (via the Citizen's Weather Observer Program) and is even being used by the the National Weather Service!

Not only that, via the magic of the Internet, you can see the weather at my house anytime by coming right here to the The Fuel Depot and clicking on the button in the lower right of the blog which looks like this:



There are all these cool graphs and charts there. I don't know why I am so jazzed about this, but I really am! Never been much of a "data" guys in the past. Weird.

We're on our ride home, a Boeing 757. We'll arrive in Honolulu around 2pm (ish). The movies are "Evan Almighty", "Shrek 3", and "Spiderman 3". Yes, 3 movies!

Atlanta

We had a nice flight to Atlanta. We felt sorry for the flight attendant because he was a hulk of a man like a linebacker. His head grazed the ceiling and when he walked down the aisle each shoulder grazed the overhead bins. It was a small plane.

We have a 3 hour layover here and fly out on Delta flt#1273 to Honolulu.

On Our Way Home

We've passed through security at Yeager airport and have officially started our journey home. We had breakfast at the airport (see photo) and said our sad goodbyes. We'll see my folks again at Christmas if not sooner. There's no fog here at the airport and we are grateful for that. Hawaii, here we come!
